these guys sound like my kind of scum - question

ok, when you get the random event about the pirates i have 2 questions.

1. the starship bonus - is it for that specific planet or for the entire civ? seems like the latter is too good to be true so i'm asuming the former.

2. what exactly does, for example, a "57% starship bonus" mean? attack? defense? hit points? movement? what? all? i can't find anything onthe civ stats screen.

Have you go to the planetary details screen (where you can find all improvements built on a planet)

The bonus affects the attack and defense of ships built at that planet. It certainly does not affect movement.

I don't remember if it affects hit points or not, but think I remember that it doesn't affect hit points.

No. It is very useful to start wars between AIs and keep being their trading partner :)

That tactic is also very good at keeping the military power of your "opponents" down.
