Precursor ships

I've had a few of the events where you find precursor ships lying around but in a recent battle with the Altarians I came up against around 50 (I kid you not) Precursor Corvettes, as well as a few Precursor Dreadnaughts, Rangers etc.

Happily the 50 odd Corvettes just power levelled all my Battle Hammers and in one of the most entertaining turns ever, four freshly escaped space monsters ate all the Altarians heavy cavalry.

Anyway, my point is - is there an event that gives you dozens of a ship or repeatedly gives you ships? In total, the Altarians fielded around 65 ships with the Precursor prefix. Had it not been for those wonderful space monsters I'd have been toast LOL

I once had something similar to this. I had a random event where I was told that "outside forces" were funding the Yor in order to get them to declare war on me. Suddenly, about 4 dozen corvettes popped up all over the map. Luckily, they just served to level up my BattleHammers.

I had the same problem in one of my games. One of the comps attacked me with over 100 corvettes, all precursor. The bothersome thing was that it didn't put these ships together into a fleet, it moved them all seperately. Waiting for the computer to move each of these ships one at a time is a little much.

In one game, the evil Torians got the event (yes, they were demonic - random alignments). The Altairians and Drengin wore them down, and then I finished them off (at which point the Altairians and Drengin declared war on me).

In my last game both the Torians and the Altarians got this and both of them decided to throw all 100 corvettes at on of my dreadnaughts. Both times my dreadnaught survived (barely) at godlike experience.
Somehow I have the feeling that those corvettes could have been put to better use.

The random event that gives a race precursor ships generates a random number of a given type of ship.

At one point during the beta the maximum possible number of generated ships per event was capped but it's still possible to get a fairly large number of ships out of this event.

In my games, anywhere from 4 to 80 have been awarded.

I got the 4. The Torians got the 80.

Saw the Torians get 76 Corvettes, it saved them from the Drengin. Wasn't too happy watching them move those ships 1 at a time though LOL If they are all going to the same place it would be nice if the AI used fleets.

turn off the view enemy ship moves and make sure the main screen is not over them. They'll move very quickly then.

I've seen the AI move ships in groups of 12 or so, but that may have been me not paying close attention.

As for the Torian - they died quickly thereafter. They were at war with the Drengin, the Altairians, and I. Of course, once I wiped them out, the Drengin and Altairian empires considered themselves at war with me. I hate that.

In one of my games, I got some Precursor Corvette but haven't used it. What is so great about them; as opposed to the normal Corvette?
