Overlords

I was browsing through the Metaverse earlier and saw a listing of all the Empires with a total of "Overlords" for each. Is that just top Rank like a Fleet Commander or whatever?

It's more of an Honorary title than anything else. In the Guardian empire, we call ourselves Knights, and we will occasionally vote on things, sometimes all Guardians, and sometimes Knights only.

Overlords are the members of an empire.

To further clarify:

Within an empire there are two levels of membership, the players are overlords and the emperors and other players with administrative privileges are senators.

Some empires use other names for overlords and senators within their websites and forums. For example, the Guardians call their senators by the title Knights.

Each indiviual empire has a different procedure for senate membership. My empire, the Aldarians , require 100K metaverse score for seante membership, others have votes, and some the emperor appoints. For more details you need to go to the individual empire's website, forum, etc.

Also, some empires are "open" (anyone can join) and some are "invite only" (you must contact emperor for any membership requirements and request membership).

hmmm, I can't see why any Empire would want to be invite-only. I mean wasn't the whole point of all that "don't post Empire ads in Main" stuff about recruiting? LoL! I dunno, maybe I just don't understand the dynamics of it yet.

Thank you Moser for correcting me. Astorax, Moser is right...Overlords (the column on the left) are the peeps who belong to the empire, the column on the right has the Knights, Senators, etc.

My turn for the dunce cap fellow Guardians!

LOL :D LOL

Well thanks for the clarification, heh. Now if I only had the [insert expletive] game I'd be okay and could BE an Overlord/Knight/whateveh. I think I've played this demo to death.

Astorax, you have established the correct playing spirit so that when you get the real game you won't be suprised at how little sleep you get. :D

'Tis true, many a night I have sacrificed the odd hour or two from my normally scheduled sleep to get that "extra turn", or while having fun posting in the "Core".

I started with a GC demo, too. But this was a long time ago on OS/2 ;p .

It was clear for me that I had to get the Windows version and I will get GC2 the second time (I already have GC2 Gold at home :d

And yes, it costs a lot of sleep >:(

When you are looking for an empire don't foget to visit The Jedi Republic http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 as well.

There are ships called overlords as well :)
GC2Gold? Not sure I follow you Walldorf2000 :notsure:
A second time?

Heh, Galciv is fun.... some say it's time consuming but I don't care I'll play a game here and there.
[I'm quickly learning alliance victories are fun when you want to cut down on the time of your game; and they give a decent sore]

Overlords , sort of reminds me of a "Captain" of a starship but in this case.... like clans or something in a Universe or Galaxy trying to take control; like the old english Warlords or whatever they called them.

Give it some thought and the immagination can take you to wonderful entertaining heights :)

Can't forget those ... gotta love 'em.

I think Walldorf was refering to the OS2 version of Galciv: there was a GC2 Gold in the OS2 days.
