It's all about location

I am currently playing a game and noticed that I am getting crushed by the Torian and Altarian's. When I go to see why (investigate their position) I noticed that their home worlds have like 3-4 19-24+ planets.

Here I am struggling with 16-18 base level planets that I have to spend tons of resources improving to keep my people happy.

Well needless to say...I am way behind in military and Tech to both these races...and it just so happens that both of these guys have an Alliance...so I can't get one to fight the other.

I just received a message last night from the Altarian's that "we need more room so move over"...Basically I am now in a war that I can't win.

4 or 5 nights of playing down the tubes AND this is on the normal setting.

If you are behind in Tech, start trading Techs with everyone. Also, (if you have a save before they attacked you) start Trade routes with them. From what I have read from the Vets on these Forums, AI's are less likely to attack if you are a major trading partner.

Oh hey, how about Bribing another AI to attack one of them? That way, they BOTH would attack the other AI (cause of their alliance) and leave you alone and give you breathing room to build up some Military. :D

End of quote

Sometimes, it won't work. Generally when AI are allied, or when they have initiated lots of trade between them. And Torians are generally allied with Altarians.

There are several things to discuss here...

1. Do you have an opposite morality then the allied races do? Without regular bribes of a couple techs when they slip below "friendly" in relations, it is only a matter of time until they feel badly enough about you to go to war.
2. How many races are left in the game? If it's just you three, your in trouble as you'll have noone to come to your aid. Again, it's important to keep the other civ's "friendly" with you.
3. Sometimes strange things happen in those pop ups that are randomly triggered. I once had a civ say something like your civ's growing fast, we think we should "deal with you now, before you deal with us later". If you have a save game from before the war began, reload it, and make sure to bribe the allied civ's to get thier opinion of you as high as you can (close is required to form an alliance).

HEY HEY thanks for the info everyone

Well last night I went in and just started playing...I pumped up my military production to like 90% and started to crank out Dreads and Death Knights. Well it ended up being a bloody mess but I was able to create enough military might and enough combat transports that I was actually able to take over a few of the Altarian star systems.

The Torian's had to go to war because they were allied...but really they weren't prepared (or should I say their hearts weren't into it) so really all I had to do is crush the back of the Altarian's. So after a few more years...THIS WAS A LONG BLOODY WAR...the Altarians lost the will to fight and had actually lost ground to me.

So when I asked them for a piece treaty they BOTH were MORE than happy to end the fight and I made them pay by making them "repent for their sins".

By the way...I was evil at one point...actually it had me at Demonic...but I worked my way back to neutral. Being evil is not so good...I am thinking.

Lastly...I have only seen 3 MAJOR races in my game...the other race is the Dregin's. I thought their were supposed to be 6 total per game.

The Caranoids are present along with the Alexians...which by the way since I had amassed such a large military force...I had to do something with it...so I pounded the Alexians into slavery and even further spread my seed among the stars...
