Pirates ive never encountered

from Stardock Forums
I am on my second game which is my longest up to now and I would have thought a pirate or two would have shown up if thats what they do.

The closest to a pirate ive been is the event where pirates are found and have stashed black market material on moons which is worth lots of money.

Do pirates come in any other forms like ships etc???????? :sniff!:

If you get the Event where the UP sets up a Galactic Prison and you get it, plan on them busting out and having three Battle Cruisers ...least thats what happened to me, heh. And they don't care who or what they attack, they want to kill everything, even itty bitty mini-freighters, SB's, etc.

At 1st Contact with any major race, you'll see they are at war with the Pirates and Space Sharks. You may never see them, even with a long game in a Hugh Galaxy! There is the "Pirates are roving the Shipping Lanes" random occurance. When that comes up, you may actually see Pirates.

The pirates will show up, but normally they do when you have a good military, or at least with my games. I understand many players never build one. ;)

Personally I think they need to step up the events in the game. Enhance the UP issues and UP meetings should happen by you setting the occurance in the main menu.

I had the prison one time and they released a slew of ships, not just 3. :D

why are these pirates so strong from the beginning?

I just started my first game, and I encountered a pirate ship with

20 Hitpoints
31 attack
4 defence

It is just smahing my ships and starbases and I have no chance to defeat it :(

What can I do?

Upgrade your SB's with defense modules ..that 4 defense isn't gonna stand up to much abuse, especially with just 20 hitpoints and no way to repair it.

Or, just keep whittling away at them with your best ships ..they can't repair I don't think, so eventually you will kill them ..then just disband whatever military you want to to save on maintenance.

This is not normal. They usually only show up later in the game, though it is a random event.

They are not able to repair you are correct buddy! :)

I get pirates every other game it seems.
