Forum bug when using Firefox and Opera

Hope this is the right forum for this bug-repport.

I use Mozilla Firefox as my standard browser. Since switching from IE I have not been able to use the "Quote", "Bold", and "Underline" buttons in this forum. The smilies work fine thoug. I tried in Opera and there the problem is the same.

Man, I hate to ask but why would you not use IE?

IE has security patches every few weeks.

Firefox is faster, contains nice features such as pop-up blocking.

I been using Firefox for awhile unfortunately this forum was developed for IE, I think both of us need to live without these features, manually enter the HTML, or use IE.

That's what I do now, but if enough people ask for compatible sites, it might eventually help.

Man, I hate to ask why should I? :p
I'll tell you a few reasons for using FireFox:
1) Tabbed browsing
2) Sequrity
3) Speed
4) Resizable font, also known as zooming. (In Firefox it does actually work. So you don't have to change your display resolution just becaus the page was made for viwing on a 19" monitor set to 800x600 resolution)

I'll second that request.

I'm using Opera and, for example, when I ran Ad-Aware it finds exactly 0 spyware. Spyware is mostly designed to attack IE not Opera.

Yes, I would never use IE for browsing on the internet. It is a security nightmare (You can't switch off ActiveX without to switch off JavaScript. JavaScript is needed on many places but ActiveX is an open gate for malware.)

It's a pitty that QUOTE and other features don't work here. It works in other forums :notsure:

Another thing that doesn't work here: when you open a thread that you've read before it doesn't scroll down to the first unread post. It works in the GC2 forum. Whatever you did there, do that here. ;)

The point of the Web is that it looks more or less the same from wherever you're looking at it. "It was designed for IE," means the same thing as "I was too lazy to test it properly."

It works for me, here. Any thread I have read, even if loging on from a different computer, when I open that thread it goes to the last message read.

Weird. What version of Firefox do you use? Any relevant options that I might have turned on/off that would break it? I've got Java and Javascript enabled. Autoscrolling & Smooth Scrolling don't affect it. It works on every other site that jumps to some part of the page other than the top.

I looked at the HTML and figured out what the difference is between this forum and the GC2 forum. This forum identifys the place to jump to with something like <a name="#200073">, and the GC2 forum uses <a id="508820" name="#508820"></a>. So it's either tha lack of the id part or the fact that this forum doesn't close the tag. Doesn't explain why it works for you and not for me, though.
