windowed version

I saw a screen shot of Gal civ being played in window (not taking up the full screen) allowing you to do other things on the desktop while playing. Does anyone know the download or how this is done?

Thanks

Doesn't seem to work. At least not for AP. I tried changing my colors from 32 to 16 bit, and neither worked.

The window will be 1024 by 768. Is your resolution more than that? If not, it will be in a window, but the window will take up the full screen. (If it's less than that it won't even start, nor will it start if your colors aren't 16 bit.)

I'm running 1280 by 1024 32 bit, but I tried switching to 16 bit, but it still ended up full-screen.

Get rid of the dash in front of the w.

galciv.exe w... I don;t understand, what exactly are you supposed to do to get the windowed version?

ether start GC/AP from the commandline or edit the shortcut for GC/AP. To do the later:

1: right-click on the shortcut to play the game (not the link to stardock central or the AP menu.)
2: edit the Link Location so it ends with "GalCiv.exe w"
That should do it.

That should do it.
End of quote

But remember that it does only work when your display mode is exactly 16bit color with a resolution above 1024 by 768.

Been trying to figure this one out for a while. Right click icon to start the game, properties, changed target to gcloader w. Wouldn't accept it. 16bit display. larger than1024 x 768. Any ideas?

Changing the command line parameters for gcloader won't help. You have to edit and use the link to galciv.exe.
