Aliens?

I'm sorry if this question is covered elsewhere, but I can't seem to find the answer.

Can you customize the abilities of the aliens beyond just alignment and intelligence? I am talking about the human equivalent to choosing a political party and spending bonus points.

Is there any way to randomize this so that the aliens are somewhat different each game in terms of what their capabilities are?

You can not specificaly change those settings. But. The way the AI is programed as it is will suprise you evry single game you play. Not a single game I played felt the same way. One game I was playing good race and had good relations with (evil) Drengin empire and (good) Altarians didn't like me very much, etc etc...

At the moment each alien AI is hardcoded and different from each other. What Stardock plan to do is to add extra AI's over the coming months (sometimes based on the way particular players play from the Metaverse) and let these be used as the alien AI's. This would allow you to decide to play against the top players (well, against an AI which plays like them)!

Is Brad going to add an AI that mimics his own style of play - so we can can try to beat him at his own game? LOL

I'd like to do that.

Presently each AI will pick randomly a set of abilities each game. The choices aren't completely random but are from a tree:

AI will pick one of a dozen or so basic strategies (which we add to as time goes on). Based on that strategy it chooses it will then pick X number of abilities. The more intelligent they are, the more ability points they get to use.

You should have been in the beta to witness the mighty Bradians, the minor race that sometimes concoured the major ones LOL

Wonderful idea. Specialy because in the Gold version you can set AI strenght in more ways than in the beta. It is something like playing chess and picking someone your size and when you get better, you choose a stronger opponent. This way the game will for ever be a challenge. Great work, Brad!
