Super Fatal Game Crash

DK if this happened to anyone else but my entire game crashed so bad it required a re-boot and still wouldn't work. I just installed all the new stuff, but I dk if that is why, b/c it worked fine for 2-3 hours. I guess I will try re-installing, but I hope it doesn't affect saved games...

This is so weird. After uninstalling, I can't even get the CD to work to reinstall. It refuses to either autoload from the CD or to be acknowledged. Is this some kind of weird copy protection feature???

(yes, other game CDs work fine)

Hmmm sounds more like a hardware (perhaps memory) problem to me or is it just only GalCiv that doesn't work anymore?

Oh... sorry, didn't read your last line and cannot edit :(

There's no copyprotection on the cd so that can't be the problem. Do you have another drive (burner perhaps) to try the game? Checked the cd for scratches?

Thanks for help... turns out the autoload didn't work for some reason and even clicking on the disk didn't help. I had to manually OPEN CD. Weird...

Just finished re-installing everything but looks like previous games corrupted beyond redemption :(

Well I had my first major crash also yesterday. The error file is under investigation by Stardock right now.
I was playing with the 1.02.036 patch when it happened.

What do you mean by corruption Chaos? Graphics?

Good news!

Re-install fixed everything! Good thing I backed up my old games too. Got them working after all (after a long time of trial and error! - had to reinstall all the new updates, too.)

Survived just long enough to be wiped out 20 turns later, but at least it all works! How very weird it all happened, though. Hope no one else experiences super fatal crashes.

BTW, Lord Ron, yes the graphics seemed to be empty - screens half-filled and weird looking and then a crash so severe I had to reboot just to use the computer. Very odd!
