Serial Number

OK, I've been spending a long time looking for an answer to this and not finding it. It won't take my CDKey for a serial number. How do I get the 1.2 update?

I bought the game from a store.
There is nothing called a serial number on the jewel case.
There is no serial number in the box, etc.
It is NOT the deluxe edition, just says "Galactic Civilizations"
There is ONLY a CDKEY in the format DN-######-GC1-##########

No, I never registered online before. And Yes I've sent emails to the support address with no reply.

Well, the CDKey is the serial asked. So it should work.
Have you tried to register your player with the CDKey here http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp? It could help you to see if there are problems with '1', I', 'O' and '0'.

This is a known problem with the CD Key. It is difficult to distinguish the letter and numbers above due to the fount used by the publisher.

Somebody want to bitch slap the idiot who built this site for me? Then give him a dictionary?

#1 the jewel case uses the word "CDKey" and not serial number, so WTF cause so many problems by not using that word here?

#2 The word "serial" implies a sequentially assigned number as opposed to the randomly generated mix of alpha numerics which make up a CDKey.
