Happy Birthday to me

Friday Night
Had a wonderful date - a real date with a real gentleman (and 4 sweet kisses). Too bad he has a wife. Hopefully, he will be able to take care of that detail (ha, and what are the odds of that really?). I sure see the potential to be extraordinarily stupid here (again!). And i haven't heard much from him since... ack!
Fortunately, i didn't act like a hussy or anything. I was quite proper, in fact, except that during one of our conversations, my dress came unzipped without me realizing (embarrassing, but not too horrible). The real concern about him is his marital status - separated and talking divorce. That means no lawyer, not filed, and lots of emotional ground to cover before he is his own man and free to commit in another relationship. I really don't want to be the rebound girlfriend... On the other hand, he certainly does appeal to me (foolish woman, why don't you just go hit yourself with a brick, it's so much less painful).
Saturday
My 46th birthday Saturday was pretty nice too. In the morning, i was outside doing yard work. Helen and two of her friends (Gage and Andrew) had been "preparing my surprise". I came in cooled off and cleaned up, when my mom showed up with an ice cream cake. Voila! Instant party... Kids, cake, and surprises (they had decorated the stairs with a lovely handmade sign, one letter per page, carefully strung together and tied to the handrail). I might have to keep that sign forever. They had also strung my presents up, and i had to fish them down with a mop. Very sweet and thoughtful kids. Just love that kind of stuff.
Then, Shawna and Christina and Shaedon came over and spent the night. The kids went over to Andrew's house to spend the night, so it was grown up girls drinking and talking about life and men (sorry to all the men, but really not a whole LOT of bashing going on). We got drunk and decided to blog (wanted to add to the "i'm not fat" blog), but couldn't remember my login id - i'll take that as a cosmic hint. Just like you should never drink and bake (a life lesson learned the ha-ha-hard way), you should not drink and blog.
Sunday
The 4th of July party went well, fairly small (19 guests, if i count right, for burgers and bangs...). Some of the guests even cleaned up after themselves, with dishes getting magically washed and stuff like that... nice! It started about 2 and ended about 10, except for the overnighters (mom and brother and his dog). We went down the road to my brother's place and blew up fireworks for nearly an hour. Finally, just had to stop and weren't even out of stuff to destroy.
My Friday night date had said he would come to the party and didn't, which isn't really all that surprising, but why say you are going to do a thing and then don't. Just say no from the get-go. It's a bad indicator... This is the second time on something like this. The other time was an "i'll call" that didn't work out that way. Maybe he is going thru some personal stuff, but sure makes a girl say hmm...
Monday
Very SLOW PACED day today. Good choice after all the rushing done in the last two days (and several weeks). Spent a lovely afternoon at the mall with my sweet daughter, letting her climb the rock wall, and lunching. Helen left for her dad's at 8 pm, and she wanted to go upstairs and hide, which i wouldn't let her do. But i did remind her that it was only til Friday. I hope they do right by her this week, as if i could do anything about it if they don't.
On a kind of humorous note tho (and this is the honest truth), after Helen left, i ran to the store to by a few items: hair dye and batteries (for my BOB - Battery Operated Boyfriend), and some impulse items, fishnet pantyhose, and a box of rubbers. Looked at my basket as i am preparing to checkout and thinking is that is the single girl's shopping spree or what? Wishful thinking tho, on everything but the batteries!!! And, of course, the checker is about a 20 year old boy... He avoided eye contact...
