Nebula etc?

I was just wondering, are there any nebulas or other strategic features on the map to make it more interesting and if so, how do they affect gameplay?

I thought the nebula in MOO were cool in that they slowed down travel and made shields ineffective. Wormholes in Stars! were cool too.

Nope. Nothing like that in the game currently.(as of gamma)
I think something was said about maybe putting things like that in after release...

There was talk early in the alpha about this but there were graphical issues with doing this. Initial idea was to semi-hide ships in Nebula.

So I'm guessing black holes aren't modeled in any sort of way yet either?
