Anyone still getting crashes when the turn button is pressed?

I can't remember if you guys have gotten a build since I fixed the ghost ship problem (where you couldn't take over a star system with a transport immediately after destroying its defenders).

If you are getting crashes, please send me the SmartException log (click Open Log Directory or something like that when the SE window pops up) and your saved game directory, along with a description of what was going on at the time.

If you need SmartException, you can get it from this link:

I have two crashes posted here:

I dont know if that's the same bug that you are referring to tho, but it happens when I try to take over a system. They are from the same build that we have had the last 10 days or so.

Cari are you saying you should be able to capture a star system the same turn you destroy the defending ships? I've never reported it because I thought you had to wait until the next turn to capture the system.

Cari I can take over a star system so long as it's not the last star system of that race. If it's the last star system then the game crashes.

Cunak, if you put some of your tech point onto navigation you can increase ship speed by up to double. This will allow a transport to move 2 squares and thus capture a star system the same turn its defenders have been destroyed.

Hmm, normally I stack my transport with the warship that is attacking the enemy system. When my warship destroys the defending ships my transport still cannot move into the system even though it is in a tile next to the star system.

As a side note I have a similar problem if my warship destroys a ship in open space as my transport will not move into the tile the other ship used to occupy until the next turn.

Paul, but you can take them over the same turn that your attack ships have taken out their defense?

As for the taking over last star system crash, that should be taken care of in the next build.

I'll double check this in a few hours when I get home. But I think I can move my transport onto a planet immediately after a defending ship has been destroyed.

Cunak, I normally don't leave a transport beside the planet when attacking defenders as it often gets destroyed in the battle!

Cari,

The last build I have seen was on 3/2, so I suspect we have yet to see your fix for ghost ships. The symptoms I see are
the same as others have stated here: 1). A transport can not capture a star whose defenses have been destroyed in the
current turn. 2). None of my ships can occupy the tile that was occupied by an enemy ship I have destroyed until the next
turn.

I get the crash at pressing "turn" so often that I have just about given up trying to finish a game, but I don't know if
your fix made it into the 3/2 build. Late in the game they get so bad it crashes as soon as I load a game saved just prior
to the first crach. I have sent saved games to you for this problem.

Cheers,
Jack

I aggressively use survey ships so I often get a lucky tech advance to get to battlecruisers first or outright find a battlecruiser with the find a ship special. So its usually me with battlecruisers against their Defenders or Starfighters. The circumstances do change when they get BCs until I get the battleships flowing out. If the end turn bug doesn't knock me out of the game. I've never lasted in a game long enough to take the last enemy system so can't provide any input on that type of crash.

Of course if I lose my attacking ship during combat then I can just move the transport away from the planet until another warship meets up with it.

Cari, I do indeed have this problem. I cannot move a ship onto a tile where an enemy ship existed this turn. Same goes for planets with defenders. With auto-turn I had not realised it.
Looking forward to next release,

Paul.
