Colonizing Star System

Sometimes I try to send a colony ship to a star and I get a beep and nothing happens? Why is that?

When does it beep? When you send it or when it arrives?

This confused me at first as well.

Might be there are no planets.

If there are, after you name your solar-system you have to click on the planet you want to land on.
