Friday Freewrite

Alas, we've arrived,
awake, aware, and alive,
of these decencies for which we strive...or strove,
did I leave on the lights and the stove,
the car running,
I've remained cunning...and severely unnerved,
so I grab for the wheel and I accelerate and swerve,
across medians, across double lines,
through working zones with double fines,
I'm tripley fine...like a sharp pencil lead,
I am Faber Castle #2....I am suspeckted,
I wanted bright lights and fame,
I got bike fights and no game,
for shame,
for sorrow...and either today or tomorrow,
I'll be well rested for a day,
from the drama and the despair of having to do things your way.

My way,
will be swift and simple,
someday,
all along the skipping stones that ripple,
through the pond,
all along,
the dragonflies and toads songs,
fill the air and my ears,
reminding me of yesteryears,
what have we here?

A blank check?
an unmarked bill?

Deposit direct,
and signed at the bottom of my will,

with a big X silent and discreet,

get me moving and loving,
the pushing and the shoving,

and this day will be complete.

There are so very few times that i read genuine poetry, that i hear that silent buzz underneath the words, the fabric that connects them, telling me the words could not be joined in any other way, that editing and the sound of the dishwasher cannot touch this.

A truly great peice.
