I'm a Hateful Person
And That's a Compliment

A few years ago a co-worker came to me saying that she had found "The perfect girl" for me.
This woman, let's call her Ann, came into my office one day after lunch to inform me about this soul-mate in the waiting. Ann had just returned from a trip to Schlotzsky's Deli. So Ann told me about this girl that works there whom she has seen on numerous occassions and talked to on some occassions.
Ann tells me what an intelligent person this girl is, and how we are perfect matches for each other. I assumed that was a compliment, and took it as so. Ann continues to tell me about this girl; how she is in school at one of the local universities; how she always has something interesting to discuss; and so on.
Ann keeps mentioning how alike this girl and I are, and how we should be together. Then Ann says something a little odd.
Ann says something along the lines of, "So-and-so is so smart! But she is often rude to me. I don't understand why, but she is such a hateful person!"
The girl I had been talking to before Ann entered my office started laughing, and so did I. I wasn't sure if Ann was saying that I'm a hateful person, or that the perfect match for me is a hateful person. Either way I found the whole situation very funny, and so did my other visitor.
Ann did not understand our mirth, and left in a huff.
I guess my other visitor spread the word, because since then my friends seem to go out of their way to find "hateful" girls for me.
