Where's my ships?

Just got the game today, downloaded and installed the bonus pak.
Made a colony ship (instead of purchasing it like it seems most do).
When it was finished, it didn't appear on the map. Pressed "F"to make a fleet,
it didn't show up on the map. OM colonists on colony ship. How do you get
colonists on the ship?
Made a scout ship. When finished, it didn't show up on the map. Went to
Fleet menu, clicked it, double clicked it, right clicked it, clicked on the arrow,
pressed 'F' to make a fleet, pressed 'U' to unmake a fleet. Finally spread my fingers
over the entire keyboard and pressed all keys at the same time. Punched my
monitor and shouted "What the ?!*&%$^@!!!!".
Where are the ships when they are built? What do you have to do to make
them appear on the map? Did I research an invisibility technology in the first
25 months? MOO3 may have lots of bugs, but at least I can make some ships!

Ships stay in orbit until they are launched from the planet surface. If you click on a ship from the list, it will tell you what system the ship is located in. Click on the system, and you will see the ship in the panel on the right at the bottom. You can double-click on the ship to launch it.

Download Stardock Central, register your game (bottom right), and download the latest update. This will add a checkbox to each system that lets you autolaunch ships.

Err... well, slight correction. They are in *orbit" around the planet until you launch them not on the planet surface. Guess I've gotten too used to being able to edit my posts like I do over on the SE4 forums on ShrapnelGames.Com.

Thanks zerqfest! Quick answer too! I'm downloading it now and will try that.
It's such a basic thing, to make a ship, I breezed through the manual looking
for a command but couldn't find anything. Thanks again!
