Entire fleets destroyed when attacking

If you select an entire fleet, and attack a single ship, that single ship wipes out the entire fleet. Anybody else noticed this?

yes, all combat is 1 to 1 so if you have a fleet of small ships and attack a large ship they will actually only attack one at a time even though they are in a fleet.
