Deficit Spending

Many of you may already do this, but just a note to those who do not.
Near the beginning of the game, if you want to accomplish certain military or social goals quickly should do some deficit spending. That is.. raise your spend slider so that you are losing a goodly amount of bc's each turn.
Doing my population and planet snagging strategy, I pump out colony ships with military cranked.. and then I crank reseach, to learn banking, and get aphrodesiac. Once I learn the techs, I crank my spending rate up to say.. 65 to 85 percent, usually keeping me at around -30 to -35 bc's a month. If you do this with your social very high, you can crank out the trade goos for instance, very quickly!
The key is to not spend your initial amount on leases or a first colony ship. I usually just crank up military for my first ships. In a game I was just playing, I still had some 400 bcs, learned diplomatic translators and aphrodesiac without breaking much of a sweat or momentum. I typically do this with the Shazam! setting.. so my PQ is quite high. Great way to spread humanity like a fungus throughout the galaxy. LOL
