This tactic requires its own tech: Bioweapon Engineering.

So, what is your opinion of such an invasion tactic? It's got to hurt the troops, definitely will decimate the eco-system, and will likely cause lots of property damage as they try to contain the beasts.

Sounds like a really great idea!!! :D
It would be great to have other invasion options other than the ones that are all ready there.

Steal the cover off a Cthorr book, purple worms rule LOL Maybe increase the cost a bit, expensive stuff trying to seed an entire planetary system with new life-forms.

Planetary invasion costs really should scale based on number of planets...

I was thinking the goal of "The Company" in Alien and Aliens, but you are right, I enjoyed _A Matter for Men_ very much also.

Hmmm the Harvester race from MOO3.....

You know, having the harvesters as an aggresive Minor race may actually be a good idea.

(Harvesters take over the host bodies of all other races in MOO3)

Alternately: "This tactic employs a 'first wave' of several bio-engineered species created specifically to throw the target planet into ecological chaos. We can expect a reduction in the quality of the target planet and there will be reduced morale before our GenTech teams harvest and destroy our bio-weapons, but billions of (our) lives will be saved."

I just prefer the idea of ecological warfare rather than sending in carnivorous attack teams. I'd also attach some sort of influence penalty to any race willing to use this tactic.

I love the idea of releasing Xenomorphs

I think it should give you a slight negitive to adv
Them a great negitive. Maybe the biodamage like you said.

You know what would be cool? Multiple Invasion tactics.
Xenomorph Invasion and then Mass Driver, See gets rid of BOTH problems

"The Company" in Alien and Aliens - That was Weyland-Yutani, right? But anyhow, great idea! But those critters were pretty vicious as well as intelligent. You might lose more soldiers clearing them up after the battle, than from the battle. To be on the safe side you might have to nuke the entire planet from orbit. Not going to be anything worthwhile left after that ;)

Yeah, that was the company.

Like I said! Xenomorphs to get rid of the Enemy, Mass Drivers to get rid of the Aliens LOL

What if the aliens could escape from the planet and spread to other planets, possiblie invading your planets making you have to fight them off.

certainly makes it a double bladed sword.

Hmmm, that's an interesting point. Those critters had a knack of getting in pretty much anywhere. Stowing away aboard a ship would be child's play for them. That would also add another interesting element to the mod, if it could be scripted that way...

i dont even own the game yet so i have no clue how much could be scripted. i bet you could ask the developers to make it so that a random event had a later random event. say after the infection occurred there was a chance that one of x race gets the infection too. reaching the point where the aliens are spreading faster than you can fight them. maybe they could even become their own race making alien organic ships!

@Maleus

"BioweaponEngineering" hasn't been released by you yet has it?

No, the library is not accepting submissions again.

Here is the final stats on the invasion strat and the tech for it (so you can play it at home!)

The tech for this is:

//------------------------------------------------------------------------
TECH 200 Bioweapons
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
Name "Engineered Bioweapons"
Model ""
Tech_Requirement "MolecularMedicine"
Research_Cost 10000
Overview "The creation of carnivorous xenomorphs that gestate in live hosts."
Description "The Yeland-Wutani Corporation has announced recently the first trials of a modified xenomorph that can survive extreme temperatures, hostile atmospheres, confined spaces and most weapons. This xenomorph has concentrated formic and nitric acid in its blood and requires a living host to gestate. It seems to possess a hive mind and will work relentlessly toward domination of any ecosphere in which it is introduced. Fortunately, the W-Y corporation has also developed simple protocols to bring the creature to heel once it has performed whatever work is required of it. Since its only real use seems to be in the field of warfare, it would seem this is the ideal invasion strategy for eliminating enemy soldiers before the main invasion."
