What is metaverse galactic map for?

Hi!
I might be a really blind bat when searching for a FAQ or info on this, but I really can't find any infor about it. What is the Galactic map for??? how does it work? etc. anyone?

It's simply a visual representation of scores and point spread between the top ten Empires in the Metaverse. As the Empires gain more points, they gain more territory on the map. I assume once the map fills up that the percentage of territory controlled will be based on the percentage of the total points that Empire has.

As far as I'm concerned, right now it's for me to look at and gloat about, since I'm the GG Emperor, and we just passed GammaSquad for first place.
