BUGCLUSTER: Now THIS is just plain SILLY :)

(See http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=39516 for backstory)

I loaded up this save game, and you know how you get the research screen followed by the planet screen? Well, after clicking Done on the Research screen, I was taken to Earth, which would make sense if Sol hadn't been conquered by the Arcaeans LONG ago (see http://icewind.dyndns.org:81/ships.jpg). So there I am with control of Earth which happens to be building Arcaean constructors. :) So for fun I click the "Details" button followed by the "Destroy Colony" button. Imagine my surprise when IT WORKED. I destroyed Sol, which was under control by the Arcaeans, with the click of a button!

But wait, there's more! After Sol was destroyed, I was automatically presented with the planetary details screen for ANOTHER Arcaean planet! I pushed "Destroy Colony", and BANG! Another one down! I took out EIGHT Arcaean planets this way.

Correction: I destroyed the EARTH colony, not Sol in its entirety.

ahh that's one of those bugs..where you should just
not be naughty like you were and all would be ok
:p

Heh...well, all would be ok aside from the 800 or so constructors the Arcaeans are sitting on. ;)

Yes, there a re a disconcerting level of bugs slipping into the game of late- I'm finding myself putting off playing it. -sigh- I'm hopine this weekend or monday will bring us a nice clean update that isn't going to introduce anything more. :)

Huh, what bugs have been introduced?

That's definitely a bug but it's been there since day 1 unfortunately. It's your game though, I mean, it's a bug but nothing forces you to ruin it for yourself. ;)

I have added it to the database for them to make it a priority to fix. Should be easy.

Brad,

I only meant the CTD with low treasury aliens (when you go into diplo with them), the crashing with the diplo-scroll bar, the excalibur bug. I don't mean convuluted or problematical bugs, just little things.

Oh, I'm running smartexecption and caught one CTD- I hit submit, but I get no real feedback as to what I'm doing with that app. Ah well, I run it every time with the game now to help out.

Well I'd say the continuous pumping out of ships is a bug that was introduced kinda recently, yes?

"It's your game though, I mean, it's a bug but nothing forces you to ruin it for yourself."

Actually this particular game was ruined prior to discovering this bug, as evidenced by the link at the top. ;)

Looking at the subject line for this thread I think I may come off as a naysaying ass. Frogboy and others, please know that the bugs outlined here are not indicative of my overall sentiment toward GalCiv! The game is great, which makes it all the more frustrating to stumble across game-stoppers like these.

Er...not that the "Destroy Colony" is a gamestopper, but the crazy ship production sure is.

The excalibur "bug" wasn't a bug. It was just an issue with Stardock Central removing the ship from your list. An SDCentral "bug" if anything but more of a misunderstanding of how the system worked.

Jaustin: an you send me that saved game? It would be very helpful to find out what's doing that.

Dearmad: My main point was that these updates haven't been adding bugs. If you can send me a SmartException crash log I can take a look and see what's causing a particular issue.

Just need you to email me the .cra file.

Frogboy,

Ok, I think I found that and it's on its way. Hope this one was still applicable to the CTD I had and isn't something that got overwritten since then.
