From our stoop

Thursday Freewrite

Since I'm headin' north for a much needed weekend off of music and the outdoors I decided I'd allow myself a freewriting session on a Thursday instead of Friday, as if anyone reading this cares....a 1, and a 2, and a 3....

It's taken days,
apart,
the trail led straight down the throat to the
heart,
where she left it empty and
echoing,
she left it spotlessly clean and a note apparently worth
mentioning,
wrote that this would be the last time she'd foot the
bill,
from scraping off the crust and sediments, the negative internalities of free
will.

So, while well tuned in current
form,
such news met my consciousness with great
alarm,
the heat is present now, but how long can one stay
warm?

Without the giggling waves that tickle my
hull,
left for dead dying void and
null,
never to retract another statement because it won't be
received,
returned to sender stamped in great
disbelief.

Because I am simple because I now
know,
that in a drawyer in your nightstand you
bestow,
all treasures of far reaching
escapes,
exhibiting new movements and feelings to which your body
elates,
I'm left with little reason to
contemplate.

Why one would sit here staring down passing cars from our
stoop,
wondering which one will stop and offer me a taste of the
truth.

When I spit it out right there on the
curb,
you said you were actually more relieved that
disturbed,
that I wouldn't accept a gift so
sweet,
that I'd send it back out into passing cars in the
street,
I grabbed for the railing and arose to my
feet.

Sat down again for each shoe to lace
up,
and remained seated for better thinking that I'd had
enough.

Sometimes I'd sware you just copy this stuff out of a best-selling poetry book of some sort.

You're hella talented, and I don't care how many times I have to repeat it until you get your ass off this blog site and GET PUBLISHED!

Trin, I would definitely like to look into the possibility of self-publishing a small book of poetry within the next 5 years, but first I'd like to amass a better collection and take some good time to polish old favorites...your support is a great motivator though.

Thanks Trin and Sali
