Playlist Music Problems

I am able to get my playlist music to play; however, whenever an event comes up, like researching a new technology or meeting with other races, etc., that (in-game)music overrides my playlist music. Although I turned off the sound effects, that doesn't help. I don't know how to make my playlist music primary; is there a way to do that? Anyone else have the same problem?

Yep, I have the same problem. That's one of the reasons I've just taken to running Winamp in the background instead of using the MP3 player in the game. Usually Winamp's volume (if cranked all the way up) is enough to completely drown out the game's music so it works pretty well. I'm still hoping they can "fix" or change this, though.

There's an option in the menus to turn off the game music so you don't have to drown it out.
