Questions about GalCiv Economics

Can anyone help me with a few questions about the economic system in the game?

1. A starting planet's income is based off the tax rate and the planet's population, correct? If so, what's the formula to determine taxable revenue?

2. How are social/military/research bonuses applied to each colony? (i.e. If I have a native 40% research bonus, what does that do for me?)

If you look under encyclopedia (top of screen on GalCiv website) you might find the information you are seeking!
If you dont, I cant help you with this one ;)

Economics are the secret to this game. You need to play a while to get the drift of interactions between the different variables such as planet size, population, morale, etc.
I have been playing for a while and I still can't answer your questions with certainty.

Here's what I know...
Planet income is based planet size, social project-maintenance, research, starbases and population.
The Taxes rate is applied to the income, what remains is for spending.
I have not reconcilled the numbers

Income in the domestic policy screen is not the same as the planet income, as it is the aggregation of all the planets taxes, plus trade and tribute.

Concerning how the abilities are applied, there are many variables involved, not just the initial ability. Research and planet social projets modify the initial ability. I have not been able to predict by how much it would affect my game if I select 2 4 or 8 points.

I hope this helps.
