more dumb military questions. repair rate.

Thanks for the help re: hit points in a previous thread. I also discovered the Torians had a starbase on a military resource which was tipping the battles their way. Went and destroyed it and am more on even terms.

Does a ship have to return to a planet to repair? If not does it repair faster on a planet than it does in space?
thanks.

If you have any repair ability, your ships will repair, even in enemy space. But putting them in orbit repairs them faster.

Oh, and don't start new threads based on old threads. That causes the board to become cluttered like the MoO3 board.

What Nicholas said. Including the second part, although I would probably have said that more politely. ;)

The main reason this board is a cluttered mess is the software being used. How can a company that is so responsive with updates be satisfied with a forum that makes discussion so difficult. No hierarchical organization, proper threading, e-mail notification, or even search? Who is going to try to add something meaningul to a discussion that has 260 unstructured messages? Or look through 350 suggesstions or bugs. It's pathetic. Even the square pants sponge bob nonsense has a better discussion forum than this place.

Fun game, though! Which makes it all the more bewildering, that they would short change community involvment with this mess...

Keep in mind, this game is doing MUCH better than anticipated... pre-release, I'm sure this forum was quite adequate for the game's small environment. It is a stretching and the seems a bit now, though.

On the other hand, I can't say I've really had a problem with it. I never need to look up answers to questions (since I'm usually doing the answering), and when I am looking for a particular thread, the ability to sort threads by poster, title, number of replies, or last update has worked fine.

And I've always hated the concept of e-mail notification... why the hell would I want MORE e-mail?

"It is a stretching and the seems"

I REALLY want an Edit function though. That should read "It is stretching at the seems". :p

Clearly, we can make do with what's here. Ten years ago, we made do with what he had then. I, for one, am getting increasingly frustrating because this hassle is totally unnecessary. There are a half-dozen turnkey packages out there that are extremely easy to setup. I'm glad that you don't need to search for answers, but 95% of us here actually need these posts to further their understanding of the game. Frankly, it's become so annoying navigating and monitoring this board that it's detracting from the overall experience.

I've run across things that I thought were bugs. I go to see if someone posted up and I end up saying "screw it, it aint worth it." Same thing with suggestions. Not only do I not want to read all of them, but it doesn't seem worth the time to comment in an area that's probably flooded with duplicates. It's all just silly and unnecessary.

Of course, nobody wants more e-mail in general. But more useful e-mail... sure I'd take that. If you're a person who posts in lots of different message boards or just are interested in certain threads, e-mail notification can save you time. It depends on your usage, but for me, I prefer getting notified rather periodically monitoring all the different web sites/threads I'm interested in.

The most annoying feature of the MoO3 forums (well, the Infogrames forums) is the e-mail notification. I know I can't visit them without receiving a flurry of e-mails. I much prefer the ability to watch/subscribe to threads, as can be seen on Bioware's forums. Any thread I want to follow is simply placed under a separate heading.

Screw the forum format. It's fine. I'd rather they concentrate of refining the game. That is why we're here.. ;)

As you can see, I have *so much trouble* with using the forums via Stardock. :)
