BUG: Tribute of the deceased

I got VERY lucky with my current game. Found a corvette first thing with my survey ship and then a couple quick +att/+def bonuses. I also was set up for +2 speed.

Managed to kill the Altarian colony ships before they managed to expand at all - they were against the map edge, I was a few sectors inward from them.

They finally sued for peace and I extorted 100BC for 50 months from them!!! This was on intelligent btw.

Not thinking, I decided to invade their single world when I got transports.. it was just after I landed on their world that I thought 'crap, I'm going to lose my 100/month when I kill them'.

Nope, I'm still getting 100BC/month tribute from a DEAD race.

Aye, this ought to be fixed. Also, how much tribute an AI will give when faced with extinction ought to be looked at too. I like how they go all ought to save themselves, but you can squeeze too much money out of them even so.

Tribute from the dead.

This is exactly what happened to me, and even stranger: If you conquer the last planet from an AI race and go to diplomacy screen, you can MAKE PEACE with them in exchange for huge tribute. This is strange: what is peace to them if they haven't got any planets left, and they will be extinct the next turn. This is bad; especially since this tribute can continue for many, many more months.

After conquering an AI's last planet you can still TRADE with that empire. I can give the empire (who will be dead the next turn) all my tech and receive all their tech and HUGE amounts of tribute. This is imho a bug that needs fixing!

i'm pretty sure that you lose the tribute once you restore a savegame. i had the Torians paying me ~400 for 50 months (they wanted peace REAL bad). their last planet defected to me, but the tribute didn't stop until i quit and reloaded later.

cheers

Maybe they put the money they owed you into the galactic bank for them to pay you your 50 each month. That way payment can continue after the race is dead.

Even if they put it in a galactic bank, it is kinda stupid. If you manage to erase an empire you can really 'milk' them. This gives the player an unfair advantage imho.

The AI should consider giving money for a long duration, but it should STOP paying after you declare war or do anything else that goes against the agreement you made. In this way the player will be forced to think twice before breaking an agreement.
