Melee in Galactic Civilizations

Look, I am not complaining or anything. This is a great game, alot of potential. But one thing that bugs me is there is no Melee in the Game. When you build a huge fleet of ships, I want to see some combat. Not a flash, boom, and that's it. I want to see them all in order meeting the enemy like in Master of Orion II. It would be a wonderful addition to this game. Please, if someone important there is reading this. Is it too late to add it? :sniff!:

Should I consider myself important because I am replying? LOL

Seriously, I was very happy the first time I saw ships do combat. I was prepared for no flash or boom, just a results thing, based on what I'd read.

GalCiv is what it is, and it does it very well.

The cool part is that you can go anywhere on the map, build Star Bases anywhere. The play for position and territory is very cool in GalCiv, that's where it makes up for the streamlined ship combat.

If your budget allows, check out MOO3 also. That game has a very deep ship design, and (although simplistic) real time battles where you can see the different weapons firing. All the technology behind the defense and weapons systems is taken in to the combat calculations, as well. MOO3 has it's own limitations, I think the 2 games compliment each other very well. That's why I'm glad I have both.

GalCiv is very much a strategic combat game.. When you have TBS Space games you either get
A) A grand game of Chess
or
B) Naval Combat on a 2d plane

Face it, MOO2, althought was a great game completely lacked strategic planning, all of their defense was concentraited on a star and you couldn't cripple them without simply laying seige. This game is like the strategic plane of the Total war games ;p

Oh no, thread #3, that I know of, asking for the same thing that has already been addressed in the category of "not going to happen".

See the thread: Tactical Fleet Combat is Required!

Or, search for fleet; tactical; combat; etc....
