Bump! Someone should really make this sticky!

Actually, someone should make it a front page item :)

Current Scores:

Galactic Civilizations 174 (15%)
Hegemonia: Legions of Iron 60 (5%)
Impossible Creatures 140 (12%)
Master of Orion III 99 (9%)
Praetorians 99 (9%)
SimCity 4 555 (49%)

So SimCity is wiping the floor with everyone at the moment, but GalCiv has a slight lead over everybody else :)

I'd have to vote MOO3 here. Galciv is great and is constantly being improved. MOO3 desperately NEEDS some more work on it!

You could.

I would advise against it, simply on the grounds of common courtesy.

Funny thing is that they already announced an expansion pack...for free no less. ;)

I voted for MOO3.

Galciv is a great game and further work is being done on it already.

MOO3 could be a good game if further work is done on it. The fixes listed in the coming code-patch look like they will help some. But more work needs to be done to make it really good.

I'd like to see that work done.

You're willing to pay for an MOO3 expansion before they even fix the one you already bought? :notsure:

If it's not obvious, Honor, I don't think getting votes on a gamespot poll is going to make it any more likely that this work will be done, or more importantly, can be done. If a game that took that long to develop is as fundamentally flawed as people are saying, a patch is not going to be enough to fix it. A really big patch, i.e. a "free expansion pack", probably won't cut the mustard either. But, best of luck to them! We'd all like to see more good games.

Astax,

many of the problems have already been fixed by changing text files. Some of them, while not precisely fixed, have been demonstrated to be fixable in the same way. A fundamentally flawed game couldn't have so many easily applied fixes.

The bugs arent a problem, its the interface!!! A typical turn when I did nothing at all I had to click atleast 5 different things :/ Sure I can turn a lot of the alerts off but then I would be clueless as to whats going on in the game! For that the game can play it's damn self.

Everything is a menu after a menu, not nice people figures you can move around like in part two. Diplomatic messages are too hard to read. The list goes on. And their revolutionary combat looks like a half done bad space checkers game. I wouldnt be suprised if they lifted it out of Imperial Galactica 2 and made the grafix worse. I cant believe it, IG2 had the best real time space combat ever, how could they make it crappier?

well in their fixes thread they have made some changes to the interface as well in the coming patch. (rightclick on things for info, putting more info on the higher-level screens so you don't have to drill down as far, making info available that wasn't before (such as the race living on an uncolonized planet, etc)). I'm keeping an open mind and will unshelve the game when the patch is released. Until then I'll play Galciv :)

Astax,

Yes, the interface sucks. Hoping the code patch fixes some of that. :)

Like Honor, I'll play GalCiv until then (and probably during and after as well).

Gamespot ... have to vote for Galciv because this request is fulfilled daily. I wish I could also vote for SC4 and Haegemonia, Legions of Iron; I like them both but wish they were more than they are. Of course, I would like to vote for MOO3 too, but I think that it will get fixed anyway over the course of the next two years. The data patch is a noticeable improvement. Civ III 1.29f and with PTW 1.21f (another patch on the way!) is finally a really exceptionally good game IMO but it has taken two years to get there.

What is awesome is that Galciv is "fixed" already and a really exceptionally good game already. What will Galciv be in two years?
