Going to war suggestion

Hi,

I was just wondering, what is the point of the election right before going to war? It's a really cool idea, and I like it. But it doesn't seem to have any affect right now. If my proposal to go to war is rejected, I just attack again until it passes. Granted I have not progressed past beginner (damn sub-normal ai >:( ) but I have played quite a few games. Anyway my suggestion is to allow one go to war vote per month or so. Thoughts?

The vote can be completely bypassed by offering "Attack..." in the diplo screen. It's a nice idea, but unless the diplo offer also gets voted on, it's rather meaningless.

BTW, if your approval is too low, repeated votes won't help you.

I once had the senate vote against war, so I lowered tax rates and forced a second vote. Got the war, too. :)

I was playing a Federation goverment.. They wouldn't let me do ANYTHING

No War, No Empire, No Senate.. You should have the ability to arrange a coup d'etat

Give away all your ships, then the AI will demand tribute and attack you if refused - problem solved ;) LOL ;)

See, I get the most votes when I hit Star Federation. I never lose an election (which means I probably will now) and my morale and approval rating soars.

That's on normal difficulty, so. :)
