Believe me, there are some fixes coming up. Have a little patience, wait until after the 1.02 d/l patch is out- thenBrad will release the latest minipatches too, I'll bet.

talon: Big update tomorrow.

But one suggestion: In the future, stick with just the major updates and not the incremental builds.

Frogboy, why not the incremental builds? I thought they where to fix a minor problem in the major updates and would thus improve the game.

Tomas, they are, but if you have a lot of CTD's it's a sign that your computer doesn't run the game completely stable (whatever the reason may be). So it would be wise to stick with the most stable version of the game, thus the thoroughly tested major updates.

The incremental builds are very quickly released patches. Those haven't been tested very well.

I've had 2 CTD's since I got the game a couple weeks ago. I learned to set the autosave to every turn so that if it does happen, I don't lose a whole lot. The game is not slowed down one bit that I can tell by having autosave on every turn. Autosave is your friend! :)

I've had SO many CTDs! Um.. wait.. I've not had many.

In fact.. I've had none at all, MUAHAHAA! ;p

ok... sorry. I just feel lucky.. no issues with Stardock, no lockups, no crashes.. heh.

I've had one CTD myself but after a few mails with Cari from Stardock the problem was solved.

fleabit...THAT is why I only buy PCs out of the box from a reputable manufacturer. Home bashed and self upgrades may give you bitchin fast benchmark tests and lots of "cool tech cred"...but I have experienced ZERO crashes of anykind with GalCiv, Or EUII or M:TW, all games whose forums are full of CTD reports.

"THAT is why I only buy PCs out of the box from a reputable manufacturer."

For the record, my custom built PC has only experienced ONE CTD running GalCiv in over 50 hours of play.

I've must've had over 200 game crashes already. They all occur reliably whenever the AI initiates diplomatic contact and I leave that screen. The other source of crashes is contacting aliens through the "Speak To" button in the star system view. Leaving the diplamtic screen opened in this manner here will also cause reliable crashes for me. These crashes are probably not related to the incremental updates, but I do hope they get fixed in the patch today.

Pressing just about any button in the UI has, at one time or another, caused a CTD for me.

Want a piece of advice? Don't install a single patch at all . We have a great game as it is .. i was having "the end of turn DOOM CTD". No more pacience for this .. reinstall from scratch, new Civilization, and NO fuckin' CTD's.

Have tried to mention this before (the post i made is in the 1.13 bug report post, read that for the full breakdown of file types).
There are some really weird sound formats in the MP3 files and the BIK movies. Some soundcards go wonky when accessing certain frequencies, (i do a bit with local indie bands demo cd's, so i fiddle with sounds quite a bit), so its no good getting the latest drivers, so peeps are still in the dark if the problem still occurs (they have done the correct thing by updating the drivers). I had a few CTD, so i looked , found, freaked and changed the format on ALL the files, including the BIK, guess what? no CTD's since, it was always the diplomacy that did it for me, the Altarians 'annoyed' movie, thats what made me check the formats.
Hope this helps :)

Oh yes, theres the movie that plays when your first frieghter is blown up when war breaks out, that used to cause the sound to dissappear completely, theres another movie EXACTLY the same, but that one has sound and the other didnt, the one with sound was renamed and that fixed a major bug :)

I have played a few games and had about 10 ctd's (which in my book is no biggy), but i don't have the multimedia part installed....that might be part of the reason.

played all games with no CTD's only on 1.13 before correcting memory leak. had no issues with any update causing CTD's :) guess i must be lucky

Me too, I guess. In all the games I have played I have not had a single CTD. I am running just the 1.13 with no mods made to the game.

Have you installed the mini updates that fixed some of the CTD problems with 1.13?
