Hello, I'm an idot - Alliances

Hi,

Playing the game for a few weeks now and I still have no clue how to get into/make an alliance? Au secour!

You need alliance tech and also 'close' relations with the other race. Then in the diplomacy/trade screen you can offer an Alliance on your side of the table.

Hmmm thanks... it would appear i'm too much of a jerk in the galactic scene to become good buddies.

Well, I've lobbied that once you get the required tech that the 'option' to offer an alliance absolutely MUST appear on the screen (to be refused, of course, if you are not 'Close').

Not having it there is, in my view, a poor design choice that makes it look like there's a bug. And let me just say, it's awfully hard to find poor design choices in an otherwise gem of a game! :)
