anyyywayys.. thanks.

p.s. I think there is no edit button in the forums because it is far, far to amusing to the devs to *not* have one. they stuff they read has to give them a cuckle.

Man these patches are poping up faster than I can complete a gigantic gal game :/ After 2 days I had the galaxy on its knees, through cunning and well planned strategy I led the game at all stages in population, production, fleet size, research, and economy! I had finally found a way to stabilize moral and someone just posted its a lot easier to stabilize moral post-patch.

Great stuff! Thanks all involved at StarDock! :)

Morale is a bit tougher in 1.02.49 than it was in 1.02.40 but still easier than it was in 1.0 but not much.

The tactical enhancements to the AI are in this build. These are mostly minor tweaks other than the starbase stuff which is significantly enhanced.

On genius or intelligent or higher, the AI will build up serious star bases in their home sectors to boost production and such.

Yeah, baby! ;p :p :d :CONGRAT:

Brad,

This may not be a bug, but as you mentioned Morale being alittle tougher, when I reloaded my last game my approval went from 60% to 91%. Is the nature of the formula now sufficiently different that a "harder" to maintain morale could be drastically simpler for some of us depending on play style?

Just means your population will grow higher.

huh, OK. Need to get through a fresh game now and see how things work out from the beginning. Again, thanks for continuing on in this incredible way with this game.

Frogboy,
Just want to again express my admiration for the support model, or more precisely ongoing development model, you're following for GalCiv. The agility which you're responding to bugs as well as user suggestions/gripes etc. is unprecedented in my experience.

Personally, I've posted about morale becoming too easy, so I love that change especially, and I also definitely look forward to the A.I. making better use of starbases.

Thanks again.

Yes I loaded up my saved game after patching and my approval rating was 100! And all my planets had 100 morale. Before patching the approval rating was mid-60's (with planet morales between 40 and 100).

I was able to increase my tax rate from 50% up to 62% and still have a 100% approval rating with 100 morale for all planets. I played for 40 or so turns at this tax rate and my approval rating eventually dropped down to 88%, and this was upgrading to the 3rd govt type. So far the morale seems easier. Tonite I'll load up the game and see if the approval rating is changed.

btw, when I loaded up the game, the culture in the galaxy seemed to be reset and it took a few turns for sectors to become culturally controlled by the empires. I thought this bug got fixed along time ago, but mebbe not?

There's some other nice bug fixes there, as you can tell by the thread talking about the "show all" button on the trade screen working, auto-launch working consistently on a per-planet basis, etc.

The AI seems to be building more starbases now, but there doesn't seem to be any coherent strategy behind them. Nor does the AI defend the starbases with ships.

AI combat tactics don't seem any different. The enemy ships still attack the first thing in site, without any coordinated plan.

Only concentrated attacks make sense in GalCiv. You need to take out a starbase, or you need to take out ships defending a planet and immediately follow through with transports. Otherwise it's a waste. The AI doesn't understand this at all.

I had no problem beating the AI at intelligent. I guess I have to try the next harder level (which as I understand only gives the enemies resource advantages it doesn't make them any "smarter")

Well, here's one person voting for Avatar Frogboy to be promoted to Excalibur, or at least Overlord! :) I'm sure he'll think Overlord Frogboy has a nice ring to it.
