If I'm wrong...

...just shoot me!

I think I may have just a small rant here, after a bad day at work. Why is it, I ask all you Joe's out there, that customers feel that when they use my restaurant they can demand what they want, and NOW! I had a particularly nasty "gentleman" come in today, and start demanding a cup of tea. It wasn't "Please could I have a cup of tea?", oh no. It was "Get me a cup of tea." Then because it wasn't there instantly (I have a new waitress), he starts shouting that we're the worst restaurant he's ever been in! He drinks then tea when it arrives, and walks out without paying!! I could have killed him...

Anyway, moan over : )

How have your days been??

Walks out without paying? Isn't that theft?

The nerve of some people...

It is indeed, but I'm not going to call the police for one cup of tea... it just got me "rather annoyed", that's all! He won't be coming in again, I can assure you : )

Paying for a service does not give one the right to be rude

Especially since he didn't even pay!

I just love people like that...having waitressed a few times myself, I know that any customer shouting they want it 'now' or telling me I need to be quick because they're in a hurry is pretty much guaranteed to make me go as slow as I possibly can.

Now if you're pleasant and polite I'm more than happy to be of assistance.  Just don't order me around - even my husband doesn;t get to do that.

Rant away, Ariadne. I'm listening...

Thanks dharma : ) It doesn't happen often, but when it does I want to kick myself for not paying more attention in the first place! People like him exist, and I can't change that, but I can affect the enviroment that I have control over - namely, my restaurant! You can come and work for me any time : )

If he does come back, give him a 'sneezer' from me!

Hah! I will Even though I have no idea what a sneezer is! Sounds painful, though

Don't admit him again until he mellows and pays up for the tea he woes you. You might also think about putting a sign on the door "No dogs and ill-mannerd allowed." Where did all the English gentlemen go? You might want to turn to my satire "Women Unite..."

I don't think he'll ever come back, don't worry! I shall look at your article now
