We have no rage

I think we’ve lost our rage
I don’t see anyone pissed off
any more. and our pride is something
like after McGovern and the summer of
love
it’s more altamont not Woodstock
bikers proving the point
and everyone wonders where or when it
got so strange

I think we’ve been stunned with
the repeating banality of doing it
over and over and over again
there’s nothing original
Mac’s on every corner 31
flavors of suv’s
it’s 7/11 or circle K
style is culture and all the vinyl
sticks and sweats and
we all look the same in black

if it’s not on the big screen
it’s barely worth talking about
shocking has lost it’s shock and teenies
have made dis-affected a disease to be
answered by anti-depressants x’tasy raves
and mommy’s credit card

even “so what” means nothing
replaced by “whatever” and slightly raised
eyebrows

the top few know little about what lurks at
the bottom and it does lurk waiting
measuring the moments
with no reason or cause, justice mercy humanity
all TV. shows at prime time
like all myths the water they hold
means nothing to the glutton
and the starving are, well, starving

the boredom of another famine in Africa
endless iterations of world problems with bodies draped
over the numbers barely demands a response

we have no rage

the whole country needs an enema.

Depressing Beautiful...thank you for organizing my frustrations with what I see around me, and what I see in me into some honest verse.
