Yay! Alliance victory!

I have been playing 4X games since Moo1, and never once in my gaming history have I managed an alliance victory until today. Using the Economist faction, I managed to unite the entire galaxy in a universal alliance, without firing ONE SINGLE SHOT! No ships destroyed, and I destroyed no ships!

Thank you Stardock for making this game :).

HI, Flespile, yep, there seem to be soo many ways to (TRY TO) win a game, it's absolutely fabulous we are able to win NOT ONLY BY WARFARE. (I have to admit though it is FAR OUT to have the possibility to be really BAD :) )

Does anyone higher up the food-chain know if victory conditions can be switched off (except domination, of course :) )... I'd hate to be playing an evil empire and have my plans thwarted by an accidental cultural victory.

I don't work for Stardock, but I'm pretty certain that victory conditions can be switched off. Just look at this screenshot from Brad's latest gameplay example. It's a bit obscured by the pop-up box, but if you look in the bottom righthand corner you can see the different victory conditions listed out with a little "check box" beside each one.

Well, I'm not higher up the food chain, but yes you can turn off non-conquest victory methods. You can only do so during game setup however. Not sure if that's what you were asking for, but any of Brad's example games show the game setup screen and you can see buttons on the lower right for turning off Culture, Technology, or Alliance victories. http://www.galciv.com/examples/5/new-2.jpg
