I have been called insane
by the best
experts one and all
one even chased the devil out of
me at 6 on a shell covered road
in texas
three little kids in danger of going to
hell
kneeling in the sun, we said the sinners
prayer
word for word
shells grinding into our little knees
bleeding for jesus
the sister waved her hands over our heads
and pushed us backed
we’d been zapped
sunday came and a bus took us to the
tabernacle of god in christ and second church
off padre island dr.
there always seemed a picnic and we ate good
they gave us stuff and took us to the lake
sometimes
I remember swinging from a rope
and falling into a bend in the river
there’s watermelon spam sandwiches
rice pudding
flies and seed spitting
I don’t know why we stopped going
maybe the devil stole us away
and made us blind again
I do remember skeeter’s sister proved
girls didn’t have dicks
I think the welfare people took the kids
I just went home or something
