"recession" ruined my game

twice now. the random event recession lasted so long (at least 100-150 turns) that the altarians completely took over the entire gigantic map. everyone else had 0 production, including me. what B#^#&#. i can understand wanting to add a little spice to the game, but after days of playing (and I was doing well) to have it end like that SUCKS!!!!!! Why not have some random event "God's chosen" or something and just have the altarians win without making me press turn 150 times.

as you can tell, I'm a little POed.

AGM,

I have not observed any link between espionage/destabilization and the recession random event. It appears the length of the recession is set at the beginning, when the event is first generated by the randomizer. I have had this event occur three times, and the recession ended under completely different circumstances each time, i.e., it did not seem to be tied to anything I myself did to rebalance my economy.

You need to take a lesson from ol' George Dubya.. The best way out of a recession is to start a war. (Preferably with a joke of a nation who have no allies.) :D

I've seen recessions in GalCiv *kill* wars, or cause one side to utterly lose. It's almost funny to watch the military-heavy Drengin nosedive into 1000 BC or more of debt in the space of a single turn, and spend two-three climbing back out.

I tend to play Federalists and buy economy and trade bonuses, so the recessions don't *always* affect me. But when they do...ouch.
