Game ending with win or loss at random intervalls, only solution - reloading ?

Of course I'm speaking about the various overpowered random events. I would strongly vote for an option to turn these off on a per game basis, as I think it's simply not fun having events that are for the most part random completely turn around a game. I'm playing this game for the strategy part, not because I admire the random number generator :)

I would assume such an option would be easy to include, and wouldn't influence the gameplay experience of people who like random events at all.

So what do you say ?

Maybe you can delete some of the events you think may be overpowered. Maybe someone more experienced with moding can help you more.

IMHO, you're taking the wrong approach. You want the game to be strategic, but the best way for that to happen is to require strategic alteration of tried-and-true plans in the case of different circumstances. That is, as good as the game is, when you play enough to understand the intrincacies, you can use predictable moves and develop a winning strategy. When that happens, the only way you'll be challenged is if you have different scenarios to interact to. I think of it like the disasters in Sim City. Sure, when you were just starting, all you wanted was to develop the perfect city. But after you built it, then what? Well, you had Godzilla attack it in the middle of a flood AND an earthquake, and then see what it would take to bring your city back up again.
