my trash is overflowing
the cardboard pizza holders
are bulging tobacco juice dripping
to the floor
I want to write to you
somehow pretend you didn’t mean
it
tell my little girl how much I love
her

my heart was born the day you were
greater yet than any other
I remember every word every glory
but I am what I am
barnacles and salvage floating
rusty brown with oily rainbows
I am a wind barely blowing
with tornado potential not civil
thor’s hammer demanding a father’s
due
but in all of the mania and the strange hours
stranger theories and intimidation of evil boys
with dicks
I do love you
