More Autopilot Options...

Perhaps I am alone in this, but I am finding autopilot to be a pain in my rear. Maybe I am not utilizing it correctly, but I wish there were a few more (or at least a couple of) options.

A simple 'autopilot off' option would be great, when I'm in a nasty battle, and I want to micromanage my ships movements.

Also, controlling WHEN autopilot goes would be a great help. For instance, I would love for there to simply be another button called 'run auto now' or something. That when hit, will at this point run any ship with autopilots set to their completion. As it is, ships move before I mean for them to move. It is not easy to find where a ship is. If you double click on one in the ship list, if that ship has not yet moved, it will. This is a major pain, imo. I may want to see where that ship is in relation to where other races ships have moved prior to my new turn. But the only way to do this is to manually scroll around the map and look for them. ugh..

If I could have an autopilot off option, and an option to run all autopilots rather than have them do them automatically, I would be quite happy!

Does anyone else have an issue with autopilot, and how it works? Any suggestions? I really would like to not have my auto'd ships move until after I have seen what is going on. And preferably after I go to certain ships locations by double clicking on them in the ship list. Is there something I am missing? :p

Those sounds like fairly good ideas.

I hate it that when i click on a ship with autopilot, either directly or through the ships sidebar, it immediatly shoots off doing it's move, even if the reason i selected it was to _stop_ it and have it go somewhere else. And then to top that off, if there's another ship waiting it's turn, the screen immediatly jumps to that next ship and i need to find the first ship _again_!

If it could be worked out, i would prefer if there was a "do all automooves" button, or even just a hotkey! And then another button/hotkey for just the ship you've currently selected. Otherwise, all automoves would wait until you hit the turn button.

Another great feature which i don't expect to get implemented was if when you selected a ship with an autopilot, something would show up on the minimap to show where it's current destination was set to.

There is a button you can leave clicked that shows all autopilot routes in the minimap. Just zoom in for a quick reference where your ships are headed. I DO wish there was a right click option for destinations to show what ships are enroute to that spot/resource/system.

I like the option that auto moves your ships, but doesn't skip moves for ships. All they need, imo, is an option that makes it so only a button will toggle all automoves if you so desire. That option, when combined with the no skip moves option would make certain your ships go where you want them, you could double click ships without them moving, and you wouldn't lose moves at the end of the turn.

Yeah, but it's hard to tell when you've got scores of ships crisscrossing the galaxy, which is usually the case when i'm having trouble remembering where i was sending this particular Avatar or Constructor or whatever.

They need to fix the bug where an auto-attacking ship needs intervention if it's target disappears :(

But aside from that, I'd like a 'sit right here and never bother me again' option for ships guarding SBs, and I'm definitely in favor of an option for ships assigned with an autopilot mission to execute their orders at the end of your turn.

... and I'd *love* an option to turn off ships 'sliding' between sectors. I'm a powergamer, man, I don't have *time* to watch that stuff! :)
