GalCiv Bug: Load Game SNAFU

Hello,
In an effort to fix the game lockup I was experiencing on my laptop, I transfered my save game files (just the .sav file and the folder of the correct name) to my desktop. During the first election, my party, mercantiles, went from 77 seats in the house to 0. The technologists went from 0 to 75 (or so). It is perhaps not coincidental that in the last game I played on my desktop my party was the technology party.
I think that the save game doesn't properly store the political affiliation. Another bug?
