Minor Race Alternate Picture or Name modification?

Also, where can i find a brief description of the minor races that can pop up in the game?
all of the minor races?

You see, what i'd like to do is modify the name of the race in the description file..leave the rest of the description the same since this is obviously the way that minor race plays..and add a picture of an alien where the big logo once was ..with the old logo in the corner of that portrait of the alien.

Can't help you with your first question, I haven't found that yet, but I can help you find the descriptions.

Open English.str in NotePad, do a search on NewCiv. That's the area of the file you'll want to modify.

As posted this in the other thread, but here ya go:

There are 3 sets of pictures in your GFX subfolder:

Foreign_Image01.pcx to Foreign_Image16
Message_RaceImage01.pcx to Message_RaceImage16.pcx
Trade_Logo01.pcx to Trade_Logo16.pcx

Images 01 - 05 are the main races.
Images 06 - 09 are the "common" minor races (carnoids, alexians, etc.)
Images 10 - 16 are the rest of the minor races (the ones in English.str listed as NewCivs)

Foreign policy images are the Foreign_Image## ones... I think

Message_RaceImage## are the ones that pop up on the main screen ("we claim these worlds for our own...")

and Trade_Logo are for... well... the trade screen!

Whoops! Update - there are also TradeImage01.pcx to TradeImage16.pcx pictures... so there are FOUR (4) sets of pictures. Not sure what gets displayed where - Trade_Logo or TradeImage (think TradeImage is the big one that you see while negotiating trades, not sure where Trade_Logo goes... hmmmm :notsure: )

I don't find the names of the minor races in the english.str...all i see are
%s

for when a race name belongs in there.

Does anyone know where the actual names like Alexians, etc are?

I see the new civs there..but not the main minor civs
like Carinoids, Alexians, etc.

I converted it Thrull, I can't remember where i found it

Carinoids, Alexians, etc. (I think there are four or is it five...) are "hardcoded" into the executable, but I believe Cari has added it to the ever-growing-suggestion list to place these in the English.str

I hope this one goes through on the next update because I almost ALWAYS encounter the Carinoids... (Cari: "I call them mini-me" )
