Brad, add rally points!

It just hit me as I slogged through the endgame in my latest gigantic Galciv effort, I have a ton of ships and it is becoming a pain in the rear to get them where I need them to go.

How about adding rally points to the game? We could set a location on a map and then tell ships to go there automatically, maybe even make it a setting on launch from a planet. What would be even better is if the rally points could change, say I had 10 combat transports heading to Nav alpha, well if I changed nav alpha all those transports would head for the new location ..

Yep, the ability to set a beacon, then right click on a bunch of ships and get a "goto beacon " popup would very nice for managing an entire galaxy full of ships while you fight wars on multiple fronts.

YES !

Also : add the ability to auto-send all ships produced in a system to a rally point.

Late-game constructors management is THE weakness of the game.

I agree. I'd also go so far as to make this a function of drones perhaps? I never really use drones, but to make the able to emit a becaon for other ships to navigate to would mean I would probably research and build them and defend them in order to maintain my supply lines.

I would love to be able to leave a marker, beacon, or buoy, next to resources to mark their locations in the early game. Sensors just aren't strong enough at that point and it's easy to forget their locations (especially in saved games).

DblDamage: buid Sensor Drones, they're cheap and you get sensor tech pretty early on if you go down the universal translator tech route early.

Waypoints would be great. You could set up a line of waypoints around you enemy to your ally on the other side of the map. As ships are built you click on them and then on any part of the waypoint line and they will all go to the end waypoint. That would help with getting a lot of ships around your enemy without worring about them getting attacked. This also could be used with trade ships.

I'll add my voice to the crowd :d . Waypoint movement would be nice. But even a simple "Set Rally Point" on the planet build screen would be a huge timesaver when coupled with the recent ship autolaunch.

persolaly i just look at the coordintes at top of screen and write em down or try to remember em then if i want to send more ships there i just scan back to that area.and im using a gigantic/abundant map here.as far as resource remembering ya dont gotta if you have cartography.

I think rally points are definitely needed too. They were supposed to be in 1.0. Butwe ended up using the little flag button for the ship launching button. We just have to come up with a good UI way to implement it.

If I may suggest a way ? Add to the "doubleclick" menu (where you can select autoattack, auto survey, etc) a dropdown box where you can select your current waypoints, then make a way to set a waypoint in the main view (shouldnt be that much of a problem, there's plenty of space :p).

Putting it in the doubleclick menu would be ok, but you'd still have to click on each ship to do it. It'd be better if each planet had a box saying "Send ships to nav point" then a little menu with "None/alpha/beta/etc"
