NOTICE: Metaverse Data - Cheaters beware.

Beware of submitting scores to the Metaverse where you've messed with the events, political parties, techs, ships, etc. to unbalance the game.

On our end, we can look at individual submitted games and see if someone has messed with that.

You should feel free to mess with the data all you want but DO NOT submit a score to the metaverse based on changing what's in there.

We've already had to remove some Metaverse accounts because users had intentionally changed various data files or used trainers or whatever.

Take our advice: Play fairly.

Thanks! Have fun!

Wha...

Now this thread isn't stickied? I had to search for it!

UNpleasant.

Ok, back to the topic. They obviously are going to pick and choose the mods for "stardock certified" (see the Library "Dangerous Animals" event). But they also are skewing the Library in another way that is just as interesting from an outside view.

Seen any anomalies (other than the one done by Brad)? Any improvements? New techs?

Obviously none have been submitted, right?

Nope, they've been submitted, but they aren't getting past the "review" process.

I would say that by definition, any Library mod SHOULD be labelled Stardock certified because they already are vetting the work of others: Only Angelina Jolie and events get to be posted. Everyone else's work is ignored.

There are political parties, techs, and improvements there too, they're just currently imporperly labeled.

Well, I checked through the Library yesterday and most of what I saw seemed quite balanced. I downloaded several events (all of Nephrinn's, the graphics for those are really well done) and all worked fine and the ones I've seen so far seemed balanced. The only thing that caught my eye was the terraforming tech addition mod. That one gives two terraforming projects late in the game, one that is +40% PQ and another that is +60% PQ.

Brad, could you tell us if this mod is acceptable for games that will be submitted to the Metaverse? I'm a real infrastructure nut so this kind of thing is right up my alley, but I don't want to use it if it's considered too powerful for a Metaverse submission.

The file has a -lot- of downloads, and I doubt all those people are avoiding submissions, so it is probably okay but I'd like the official word if you have time (I know you are busy as hell).

Vorlin, if it helps, the terraforming tech doesn't really come into the game until the very late game. The terraforming projects are also *quite* expensive and time-consuming.

On the other hand, with their cost, they make a good alternative to waste. :)

Vorlin, I agree with Phaedyme. By the time I get that far, I usually don't worry about social spending, since I've got all the wonders and trade goods I can get, all my planets are fully developed, and I'm really not creating many new colonies. Terraforming all by itself is a major project, and those add-ons are even more severe. I keep thinking I want to install those, but I never remember.
