What is DDHELP and Why Does It Keep Crashing My Computer?

FWIW, after the galaxy transition completes, the screen goes black and DDHELP crashes.

One of these programs is either interferring with the game, or the game is interferring with them. Note that I haven't had problems with my current (well, "recently departed") suit of games.

The "suspects" include:

Trillian, Desktop Architect, and/or Motherboard Monitor

DDHELP.EXE crashes usually have something to do with the video drivers. Do you have the latest for your particular board?

I've seen oddball reports of crashes with Desktop Architect when using our WindowBlinds product on 9x, so I would try disabling that first. It might be freaking out with the mode switches for the videos.

DDHELP.EXE is part of DirectX. Crashes there are almost always cause by video or sound card drivers. Updating those and DirectX may fix the problem.

I can report that Trillian does not cause any problems here (98SE/DX8.1).
