Ok guys, to answer your questions:

Yes, Novocastrian stands for newcastle upon tyne. I'm half french half italian but live in the UK and also a big fan of NUFC, so I have to balance my passion for europe with my passion for the team. So here is the deal: I'll change the empire's name to European Alliance (or something else, we'll need a vote) once more people join.

Forget about the UN: our mission is precisely to create a bipolar system, s the rule of international lore obviously is not being respected.

The idea of a website is also quite cool. By the way, I have seen a few Belgian and Portuguese empires in the metaverse....l'union fait la force.

The one advantage is that when they change to wintertime you can stay in bed 1 hour later. When going to summertime you got to get up earlier :notsure:

Hi there!

Requesting acces to the bunker.
I´m 30 yr old from Spain, Aerospace Engineer, only interested in strategy and building games and a fan of space related ones (civilization series, simcity, do you remember colonization??, starwars, startrek....)
I´m a political supporter of the EU since decades, and it shows (my wife is polish)
I just discovered GalCiv, and I love it (only 2 games so far, only 1 submitted though), I will try to get into the Metaverse thing as soon as possible to support our empire!!!
(whenever my wife lets me play of course....)

Is there anything special I should know about the European Alliance??

Although we might have fallen in score we still hold the glory to be the largest empire in Metaverse (at least largest of the most formidable empires). Glory for the Alliance! :CONGRAT:

The first task to the top is to take on the empire in front of you. The MWC is also an old empire as far as the Meta goes, so the Euros and them both have a lot of old version scores floating around and that puts the two on a more equal footing. The farmers are simply outfighting you right now in number of battles. So overtaking them should be easy since they do not have that much of a battle lead. It gets a little harder from there against the top 3 empires; they are newer empires with a core of newer players with new version scores that have little past deadweight.

Advice from the Spymaster, who would off thought that?

If I could get every Euro to post a game every week we'd be on the number 1 spot in no time, but unfortunately I do not have that power ..., yet.

Its great to have you on board :CONGRAT: nice to see you have that fighting spirit ;)

but to tell you the truth - the most important thing (for me anyway) is that you play the game and enjoy, post the number of games that suits the time you have got and drop by this thread to say hi every time you have got 5 min.

Oh and by the way - just because i have got the highest score (right now) doesn't mean i'm the best player - i have just played more games lately :D

But one of the majors things, which I myself didn't discover untill lately is: I always do whatever i can to get those AI's fighting with each other, this will make them:
1) Slow down their own development
2) Like you more - as it seems that they don't like fighting to many people at the time
3) Give you more trade. They can't trade with each other while at war, thus they will trade with you instead

It can also be used if one of the AI's are getting to strong - make the other attack him.

well, thanks for the advice, I only played two games, but all you say does make lot of sense. I will try that strategy next time.
My last game I was played as a really good guy, at the end I had more than 75% of the UP and I was so nice that I even voted to give away planets to the weak guys, 2% of my income, etc. Is that good or bad for the score when you vote those things against yourself? (although obiously did not hurt me in any way...)
Also, I was thinking of going for a tech win, but they all kept surrendering to me, and I won by culture... is that normal?

It isn't unormal that once you get the upper hand on the AI's your influence will grow to the point where the AI starts flipping (thus some people - including myselft - turnoff cultural victory).

Your alignment is only affected by your choise on the events that show up (the colonization events and some of the laters one - where you actually have a choice), not but the way you act in any other aspects of the game.

The way you win the game affects your score and Military/Conquest victory score higher, thats why you would see alot of players going for this victory type, but you should play the game the way you have the most fun playing
