I am trying to buy the game but am having no luck.

Given I have had past delay issues when ordering from Amazon plus my desire to help out the local store, I went on a hunt to find this game with terrible results.

Gamestop: I tried my two local gamestop stores and while they both said they would be carrying it they did not expect it until NEXT week.
CompUSA: They also said they would carry it but they did not know when they would get it adding that it was not today as their last drop off occured.
Media Play/Best Buy: I went to two different stores (one Best Buy and one Media Play) and they both said they will not be carrying it.

I really would like to have a manual and would like to get started on it this weekend (I am rather busy the next few weekends). I live in the Cincinnati area.

Any thoughts on other places to try or am I stuck having to decide between download without manual/disk or having to wait a week?

Thanks

Electronic Botique had it even yesterday.

I checked the local Best Buys, they didnt even have it in their database. They almost always have games weeks before release in the database. I smell impending doom.

EB just got their FedEx shipment, so I'll know if they got it today pretty soon.

Of interesting note, the EB right by me doesn't carry 'B label' games unless specifically ordered. So if your store doesn't have GalCiv, you might wanna inquire about that.

Both my local EBX's had the game yesterday...one of them is a little EBX right by a highschool and college that has 80% of their titles for Playstation, Xbox etc etc. They still had GALCIV right up front. All I had to do was fight thru a dozen kiddles buying Megazoid/Galonkazoid Kung Fu Robot Master to get to the counter. Piece of cake.

Gamestop/Software Etc (even the clerks don't know which flag they are currently flying) in my local mall didn't have it yesterday when I went by to pick up the Wind Waker preorder -- for my wife, really -- so I bought it online last night.

The whole purchase, confirm purchase, download stardock central, create account, register software, start to download... Fail, redownload, and so forth is quite tiresome. It had some novelty value and I finally managed to get it to work, but it felt like a test. If I had to do it on a regular basis I would be peeved.

But it did work, and I do like the game quite a bit. An HTML verison of the manual would be nice, so I could install it on my Palm and not carry dead trees on the Metro would be cool, but that's a minor gripe...

We'll get the niggling issues with SDCentral sorted in short order. And we're going to try and make an HTML version of the manual available as well.

I was just at my local (ha, 50 minute drive one way local) Babbages. The guy said that their are a few pre-orders for the game, and it should have been in yesterday, but for some reason, it didn't show up. He said that since a few pre-orders were done, that they should probably get a few more copies, and that possibly tomorrow it will be in. They are supposed to call me when it come in....
