How does metaverse determine your score??

Other than the obvious - size of galaxy and difficulty of opponents what other factors determine the score?? I ask this becuase I won a two game in both huge galaxies both with cultural victories. One had a score of 2600 or so and the other was only 1500. The lower scoring game had harder A.I. all bright or intellegent and I conquered (through culture) more of the galaxy, but I had virtually no military and I had maybe a dozen combats throughout the game. In the higher scoring game I had many more battles but still won a cultural victory. Why such a 1000 point difference?? :notsure:

Score at the moment is heavily dependant on population and % victories achieved. It is quite easy to get immense scores on simple AI levels on Gigantic galaxies. Difficulty unfortunately has very little effect on score.

So conquering a planet through culture doesn't count as a victory?? They are just as conquered. I also noticed that the highest scoring metaverse scores have crippling or Masochistic difficulty levels.
