Where is my girl?

Where is my girl?

Not the one with nappy dreadlocks,
wearing birkenstocks,
with dirty heels...

I need one raised on grunge rock,
fishing with me on my granparents dock,
and sharing her absurd ideals.

Opening her notebook full of x's and arrows,
carving out her world until it's hollow,
she complains of feeling directionless,
her beauty is effortless,
and if she has to wander I'll follow.

I'll push her on my mood swings,
she can taste the bitterness to consume,
I'll smile at everything she brings,
appreciate what she hates,
the weight on her waist,
and all she brings with the lights off in my room.

Where is she?

Cause here I've been,
patiently waiting for a sign,
a where and a when.

I'll show up with a glass slipper,
try it on even if it doesn't fit,
more or less,
I'll shatter it,
it doesn't matter if,
she's no Cinderella or princess.

But I do sure miss her,
and how I imagine I'll feel when she's around,
I am lost and found,

Where is my girl?

"I'll push her on my mood swings"

Very clever. I also enjoyed the Cinderella allusion. It is nice and refreshing to know that there really are men who see beyond "regulated" beauty standards or women who don't necessarily fit a mold--the breaking of the slipper, appreciating her hates and the weight around her waist. You're a beautiful person, suspeckted--I've known that all along. She'll show up...i'm sure of that.

Mig, WLC, I like this poem a lot. I think it could be expanded or cut down, but I like how the mood turned out.

I fall in love so easily when I see someone else carrying a notebook around. There's something so intriguiging about knowing that someone else stores their thoughts, dreams and oddities in the same way that you do.
